What many do not realize is that fat is essential for good health. Your brain, for example, contains fat, but it's good and not what can kill you. With age they become more likely to gain weight and large stomach that many see. Fat around the middle is a bad fat that usually comes from things like sugar and trans fats.
Alcohol is the same sugar in its molecular component. In other words, sugar breaks down in the same alcohol structure and that is why beer busters end up in what is termed "beer intestines."
